Hotel JMNYC

Again, a week with little excitement. But it was all in preparation for my friend Mac's visit to NY! He is currently attending law school at Georgetown, and decided this would be a good weekend to come up visit NY for the first time. In the process, we tested our apartment as living quarters for a third party, and actually it worked pretty well (hinting that our place is open for guests).

Mac came into town late Thursday night. We went out for a quick drink in our neighborhood and then headed to bed. M and I both had to work Friday, so Mac tooled around NY, went for a jog in Central Park, and then we all met up at my office after work, where we snapped a few rooftop pictures of the Empire State Building.



From there we did a quick little tour of some other NY destinations. We hit Times Square...



Radio City Music Hall...



And Rockefeller Center...



We ended at Grand Central Station and took the train out of midtown from there. We headed to the Lower East Side where we (exhausted from all of the walking...apparently my "it's only a couple blocks" mantra leads to miles of walking), grabbed a drink and just hung out and relaxed.



A topic of conversation was...dinner. We decided on Italian, so off to Little Italy it was, where we filled our empty stomachs. Sorry no pics of our meal.

Mac's friend Dan was in town for job interview, so he met up with us, for our next adventure. But in gaining one person for our evening, we lost another. M, wasn't feeling too well, and decided to head back home around midnight. But she missed a lot of fun at the Bulgarian Culture Center (aka Bulgarian Disco). Yes...I said Bulgarian Disco. Basically a bar/club filled with really sweaty hipsters who've been bobbing all night to the sounds of bulgarian inspired techno...that's the best I can describe it. You'll have to see and experience it for yourselve.



Saturday we split up a little. M stayed home and read, and then went to a yarn store. I went to the batting cage for baseball practice, and Mac met up with Dan at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But we all congregated for dinner back in the midtown area, prior to going to...our first Broadway show! We got tickets to The Producers, the very funny and entertaining Mel Brooks musical at the St. James Theater.



A great weekend, and we hope to have Mac come visit again soon. And likewise plan to go to DC in the near future to crash in his living room.

This week we have a short week at work, and then are off to South Carolina on Wed. morning for a little vacation that my family is doing. We're excited for some time relax with family (well, my family at least), and we're hopeful for warm weather on the ocean, but I looked at a forecast, and it was not any warmer than NY.
